Ryanair Launches-New Tenerife Base and 39 Summer Routes ☀️
Ryanair, one of Europe’s largest low-cost airlines, has opened a new base in Tenerife and unveiled its summer 2023 schedule of 39 routes, including three new ones to Bordeaux, Eindhoven, and Nuremberg. This expansion comes after Ryanair’s average occupancy in Tenerife was 95% during the winter season, which is three points above the company’s average. Therefore, the airline decided to increase the number of flights to existing routes and add new ones to the schedule.
To complete its investment of 185 million euros, Ryanair will base two new aircraft in Tenerife during the summer and hire 60 new members of staff. The airline will add more than 285 weekly flights to their schedule, representing a 5% growth compared to the summer of 2022. Ryanair expects to fly 2.8 million passengers to or from Tenerife annually, with 1.4 million during the summer of 2023 alone.
Elena Cabrera, Ryanair’s Manager for Spain and Portugal, said that the opening of the new base in Tenerife is a significant milestone for the company. “The base is where the plane sleeps and there, in general, you have a better connection and security for the routes. In the Canary Islands, geographically, it makes more sense to have bases. If you have a problem with any connection, you would have to bring another plane from Malaga, which is the closest base. Now, having them in the Canary Islands, we have a team behind to maintain all the planes,” explained Cabrera.
The reopening of the Ryanair base in Tenerife is excellent news for passengers. They will enjoy better service, more frequent flights, and direct routes to more destinations.
